Ways for kids to earn money: Kids money
Childhood lays the foundation for later years of life. Lessons learnt in childhood stay with you for the rest of your life. Earning, one day, will become a necessity in your child’s life. Therefore, we should encourage our kids today to start earning. This not only helps them to add some extra bucks to their pocket but it also helps them in gaining experience, learning about fund management and achieving confidence and contentment. Generally, kids wish to buy some toys, snacks, cards or kind and earning can lead them to have all of them with a cutting edge over others.
As children, this thought will never cross their mind and so, they should be encouraged. They will not be able to use internet to earn money nor will they be able to get the employment as adults get. Therefore, it is important to tell them which job they should take. Below are some of the simple and easy ways for kids to earn money:
- Baby Sitting If your child is comfortable with younger kids, then he can probably take up the job of a baby sitter. Parents, in today’s busy world, often need a good and reliable baby sitter who can take care of their wards.
- Helping Parents This job is a bit similar to that of baby-sitting. In case your child is too young for any job then this is the best option for your kid to earn. This way your kid can be taken care of and at the same time taught few of the basics that may prove beneficial for them later on.
- House Cleaning This option is best if you do not want your kid to go out but still learn to earn something. Cleaning his room or his siblings etc. may become part of his work. Many things can be handled inside the house. Let your child do this work and allow him to earn his share and fulfill his little dreams.
- Stalls This is probably a very old-fashioned method to earn money. Your child can sell lemonade, apples, burgers, coffee, donuts, snack bags, or other food items. Try selling seasonal things also. If possible, set up a booth at a local community fair, or sale if allowed. In addition, if your child is good at making crafts, he can design them and sell them in his stall. This will make your child content and proud.
- Car Washing People generally keep searching for people who can do car cleaning for them. Help him arrange a group of friends that can offer car-washing services. See what other professional car washers charge in your local area, and price the services accordingly.
- Animal Caretaking If you child enjoys animals, then try an animal caretaker business. This might involve walking dogs, dog washing, or general grooming. In addition, if a neighbor wants your help in house sitting or pet sitting while they are away from their house. Then, this can also become a part of your work.
- Landscaping Cutting grass, weeding, trimming, planting flowers, and other landscaping jobs are abundant. Scan the neighborhood for homes that need landscaping services.
- Snow Removal In winters the roads, driveways or sideways are laded with snow. This job works best when a group of kids can work together shoveling several houses.
These were some tips that kids can use to earn some money as their pocket money or so. However, most importantly you should make sure that your kid is safe while he is at any of these jobs. Lay down guidelines for him to follow and teach them safety measures to be taken. Make sure you always know where they are.

Couldn’t agree more, these are great suggestions! As a single parent that was *less* than good with money throughout my youth, teaching children about money is CRUCIAL, in my mind. I’m not going to blame parents, schools, etc, but quite simply, I clearly “didn’t get it”, and I am still paying for those mistakes a decade later! And quite frankly, I hate the position I got myself in, everytime I pay off my past debts… I could have used my time/money sooooo much better.
