Also, if you get visitors to older posts then it will improve your traffic ranks greatly. It is a big waste when quality posts that really will be liked by readers are not getting traffic. That is why you need to know methods to attract traffic to your older posts and in the process viral them so that, visitors keep coming to it.

So in this post I will tell you some awesome ways in which you can get traffic to your older posts.

Random Posts Plugin

This is a commonly used method to get traffic to your old posts. You can show links to random posts on your sidebar. The list for random posts can come below your list of recent posts. By showing random posts on your sidebar, your regular visitors will be exposed to the older posts that you have written – as it is randomly selected. Using the random posts plugin is quite popular among bloggers.

Interlinking

This technique is a great way to 1) Bring traffic to your old posts 2) Improve Search Engine Optimization 3) Provide more value to readers. When you write a post, link the keywords that you may have written about earlier. Google loves blogs that are strong inter-linked; apart from the obvious SEO advantage, visitors to older posts are a bonus. Make sure while you interlink the posts that you use the correct keywords as it will give you added benefit. Also, the reader will recognize the topic of the article by reading the keyword which you have linked.

ReTweet

This is the best way to get exposure of visitors to your old posts. Everyday tweet a few posts that are in your archives to your followers. Surely, readers who find your title appealing will visit the post. Don’t restrict yourself to tweeting new posts, every once in a while tweet your older posts and you will instantly see that there is an improvement in your traffic. The advantage of tweeting your older posts is that apart from getting exposure to old post you will notice that many visitors will also visit your latest posts. Great Tips.

I agree, instead of letting your old posts lye around, it is better to get them to peoples attention.

I have seen many blogs that interlink to old posts, and there is nothing wrong with that, as people will benefit from good posts. Sometime’s old posts are so good that you have to refer to them. As they say ‘old is gold!’.

Hey Anil

Do you use a silo structure for inter linking? From an SEO standpoint, its a good method. I am just testing it out to see the results.

I have never heard of the random blog plug in. Something worth while to check out. Some of my sites have 150 to 200 posts on them.

What about a small contest of some kind to get more visitors to your older posts?

Cheers

Oops, forgot 1 other point. What has been your success with using twitter? I don’t live in a cave, but seems to take a lot of time, that I could use for other things.

Its ok. Currently I don’t get much traffic from Twitter. I think it all depends upon the kind of followers and tweets you get on your content. You can expect decent traffic from Twitter if you are able to get 100′s of tweets on your blog posts

Contests always work if you have an established blog. You can use contests to fulfill lots of your wishes like increasing RSS Subscribers, Twitter or Facebook fans, content on your blog and even flow of comments coming on your blog

There is great news for all Blogger (Blogspot) users. Now they will not need any hack or code to add social sharing options to their blog posts :hi:
