Authority websites are the websites which rank in the first page of Google for search engine results. There is no doubt about the fact that ranking in the first page of Google results in the best place to be if you are planning to earn a lot of money online.
Considering all the content that is generated per second, Google has no easy task of sorting out the relevant and high quality content from the poor ones. But there are some common features that are always present in an authority website.
This post will discuss the core points which are required to actually brand your website as an authoritative one.
Market Your Niche Effectively
This is the part where your niche and the keywords you are targeting really matters. The final success of your blog as an authority website comes when you rank in the page 1 of Google for various keywords which you are aiming at.
To do this, I would suggest that you use the Longtail SEO techniques, as I have explained in an earlier post. This strategy would involve you competing to get on the first page of Google for many longtail keywords. It is a better strategy than directly jumping at fierce keywords like “Make Money Online” and “Home Business” from the first day of your blog. A gradual build up to the keywords and niche topics you are aiming at is a better battle plan to reach page 1 of Google.
Another important factor for marketing your niche is your articles. Your articles must contain the key words which you are aiming for. It is easily noticeable in an authority website that they have several hundreds of articles which are written simply aiming at the big keyword terms. This eventually helps them to build up reputation and climb up the Google search results.
Choosing Your Domain Name and Hosting
Although it is not necessary that you have the term you are targeting as a keyword, it will always give you an edge over others no matter what! Picking a domain name with the keyword term is a great Search engine optimization method.
As far as hosting is concerned, make sure they provide reliable service apart from customer service at all times. If your site goes down due to poor web hosting for a few days, it may take years before Google begins to trust your link again.

Nice post, buying a domain name with our main keywords is important and a plus for SEO. However picking a hot niche can often bring more difficulty to rank in the first page of the search engines…
My method of building an authority site and I have written extensively on this subject is the following:
1. keyword research first and foremost
2. Checking out your competition – are there strong sits on page 1. I look for articles on page 1.
3. Starting at the lower end for competition and working up the keyword ladder to get the higher competitive terms. Its like building a foundation of a house.
4. Domain name – if possible, choose a name to match the keyword you are going after.
5. Back links – this is where 90 percent of your effort should be focused to rank your site on page 1.
