There are many bloggers who have established their blog with good search engine rankings and large readership base. So there are many purchasers who are willing to buy these blogs for a very handsome amount. Although the compensation might look good as a large lump sum – there are also many disadvantages that the seller will feel later on. It is important that a seller knows what are the drawbacks that he will face after selling his blog? In fact, the whole decision of selling a blog should only be done after careful consideration.
Here is a list of drawbacks for the blogger who sells the blog:
1. Monthly Revenue
Your blog was a monthly source of revenue of varying amounts no doubt but the compensation was good. When you sell your blog, you have essentially rid yourself out of a source of regular income for a long time. Also, there is a high possibility that the amount you were paid for the blog will be earned by the buyer in a few months after buying it from you. Your blog is like an asset, it will keep paying you as long as it’s popular – once you sell it, the only money you have is the money you were paid for.
2. Content
This is an obvious drawback of selling your blog. All the content that you wrote for the blog to reach where it is today automatically becomes the property of the buyer. Quality content is the main stay of any blog and you have to give it all away along with the domain rights.
3. Readers
When you were blogging, readers associated your blog to you. When you sell the blog, you lose a huge chunk of the readership base and your email subscribers who could have resulted in a lot of affiliate sales for you.
4. Emotional Attachment
A blogger is very attached to his blog, especially once the blog gets popular. The blogger has a lot of emotional sensitivity towards his blog since he has nurtured it from ground zero to the level it has reached today. The amount of handwork involved in giving a blog momentum to success is really a lot. It all goes to the buyer when he pays you.
So you need to think about these points and whether you are okay with these before you finally decide to sell of your blog. Starting a new blog although fun, is never that easy to make successful.

Hi,
I think one should not sell his blog until and unless it’s absolutely unavoidable. As the blog carries much hard work that you put in. It’s not all about the money. You have build a relationship and community around your blog.

I definitely agree with Nabeel. Selling your blog can make you some quick cash, but over time, you’d probably make more and you’re abandoning your group of loyal followers.
It’s not really a good reason to earn cash, spend and invest in your blog for a long run it will double or at least give more value to it.
Well, if you’re readers get word that you are attempting to sell your blog, that might not go over too well, and if you aren’t able to sell the blog, it might be a worser case scenario as a result, and you might even see revenue go down.
Till then,

It was really hard for me to sell my first blog because I was so attached to it. I even felt weird not being able to check on it. Its weird how you can get attached to things like that.
Selling a blog may cause a hundred of bucks, wise you should spend more time on creating compelling contents.
