One of the biggest mistakes is a lack of research before starting out. The web is littered with abandoned blogs and websites – dumped when the web master realised there was no money in their chosen niche or way too much serious competition.

I am very certain that people choosing poor niches are unsuccessful regarding making money out of a blog seriously. On my experience, finding killer niche is difficult but that helps a lot when you start earning. And by using different strategies, you are way to top! Thanks for your tips here, it wont be hard for starter.

Great tips! I thought choosing the high competitive niche is the best one, but as this site explained carefully, I realize it is somewhat true, no not somewhat, but absolutely true. Thanks for reminding me not to cover lots of niches in the same blog. I have it in my mind in order to gain traffic to my site. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah that the main problem why lots of boggers actually fails with their blogs. Lots of bloggers simply start their blogs without thinking much. And by the time, they understand, they made a mistake in choosing their blog niche, that would have been too late

That’s a great list, and I would also add that choosing a niche or topic that is too narrow or specific in its focus would be a mistake as well. You need to at least have a somewhat decent base of people that would have an interest in what you’re blogging about.

I am quite having a hard time to target specific readers because there are a lot of competition nowadays. Even if you implement those guru’s advice, you cannot easily see you site/blog on the top page of Google search. Why?

Because almost all of the webmasters and bloggers are also doing what I am doing right? If I am optimizing my site and looking for keywords, others are also doing that with the same goal in mind.

It is just a matter of how hard will you try and how long can you spend time with your blog.

Targeting specific keywords is not easy considering the number of bloggers doing the same strategies.

Pioneer has still the advantages over keyword domination.

Great niche primer. It sure is easy to get caught up in what you see someone else doing in a niche or how well a site or blog is performing for them and want to copy it. I agree that you need to be passionate about what you’re going to write about.

Interesting…the same old advice keeps coming through: Write about what you love and the money will usually follow.
