According to an official statement from Gmail blog, we can now add rich text signatures into Gmail account, means we will be able to add links, images with text format, font and colors to our signatures in Gmail. Before this, people use some kind of hack, scripts, tricks or some ad-ons to create rich text signatures in Gmail. But now, they don’t need to use anything like this, as rich text feature is available in their signatures on Gmail.
How to create or Edit your Signature
To create or edit your signature, click ‘Setting‘ link placed towards top right hand side in your Gmail account. You will reach to your Signature section when browse under ‘General‘ setting. So now you can make your content:

- Bold, Italic, Use of underline
- Different fonts, text sizes and colors
- Working links associated with your text
- Use of list type and different type of text alignment
- Image addition where you have to give your image URL. So you have to upload your image to your own website or some popular image sharing websites like Flickr to host your image. So uploading of image from your computer is not available in this feature set from Gmail team.
Activate Inserting images
You will need to activate ‘Inserting Image‘ option from Labs available under Settings in your Gmail account. Clicking on Labs tab will show you a list of experimental features, when you browse this list a bit, you will see a feature ‘Inserting Images‘. So you need to enable this feature.
How I use Rich Text Signature
I will be spend some time playing with feature from Gmail to make an attractive signature I may use for all future communications that I do for SFM. Here is a sample Signature that I created for SFM blog using rich text features available in Gmail account. I will be adding a link for my blog and how you can follow me on FeedBurner, Twitter and Facebook as part of my signature using newly launched feature from Gmail. I’m really happy to see such an impressive signature for my Gmail account.
Have you guys tried creating a signature using this feature from Gmail? Please share your thoughts and let me know if you find any difficultly in trying rich text signature in the comments section below:

Yeah another way to market your website more professionally.
I think this is good news, but it was about time that they implemented this!
This should have been available/implemented years ago. Why were we still limited to non-rich text signatures? Were we living in the 2000′s?

It makes sense in my opinion for Google to do this with Gmail, it’s common practice to have signatures in emails, so it’s been quite a surprise at how long its taken to get to this point.
Till then,
Jean
Finally Google needed to add that. They needed to catch up on that one, I am surprised how long it took them.
Hi Anil
I really don’t understand why Google has taken so long with doing things like this. Earlier this year it was announced that hotmail was getting a major overhaul. Gmail is something I use for a lot of my incoming email because I find it reliable. I just wish they would do some more with gmail.
Thanks for the update and I will test it out
Sweet! Guess its time to go spend a couple hours perfecting my Google sig!
Nice, I am using signature in gmail, now add my pic too.
Gmail adds your signature in grey at the very bottom of your message. Signatures are separated from the rest of your message by two dashes.
This has been a long request for gmail users like me. Glad it came up now so i can use this feature.
