Checking Google Backlinks in Yahoo

Currently, Yahoo Site Explorer is the most up date and fast link checker for a website. Some people even use it to check their back links in Google. With Yahoo Site Explorer, you will have exact idea about the total number of links to a website whether they are coming from external sites or the original websites itself. Yahoo Site Explorer can be used an alternate to Google webmaster tool to check the back links of a website. Some people even use it to know the back links of their competitor’s website. Yahoo Site Explorer is the only place where you can get the complete list of links to a website publically.

To use site explorer, one does not even need to create an account on it. Here is how to use Yahoo Site Explorer to check the complete list of links a site have:

Go to Yahoo Site Explorer page

Enter the URL of the website to find its back links (I entered http://www.scopeformoney.com) and Click ‘Explorer URL’

The first result that you will get will be the list of pages that are currently indexed in Yahoo for this website. I get 214 pages for SFM that are actually indexed in Yahoo.

Now click on ‘Inlinks’ which is shown with some numbers. There are two drops down menus below:

Make a selection from the dropdown menu which is shown after ‘Show inlinks’.

From the second drop down menu select you want to check backlinks for ‘Only this URL’ or ‘Entire Site’.

Spend some time on Yahoo Site Explorer and get used to all of its functionality. All in all you can use this amazing tool from Yahoo to check internal as well as external links to a website. Here is again the list of things you can do with Yahoo Site Explorer:

  • Number of pages indexed in Yahoo
  • Total number of links to a website
  • Total number of link except the link from the domain/sub domain itself
  • Total number of backlinks for a particular page

Most of the links that are shown in Yahoo Site Explorer will also be shown by Google. Google is very slow in picking and counting the links for a website. But on the other hand, yahoo is very fast in picking and counting links to a website. On Yahoo Site Explorer, you can expect new links available for a website that it gets in the last few days or few hours or even in the last few minutes time.

I himself use this tool from Yahoo on regular basis to know the backlinks of our as well as competitors websites. The only downside I find about Yahoo Site Explorer is that, it counts all incoming links as links whether they are dofollow or even nofollow.
