It is always a doubt in the mind of many webmasters that why is a .COM so much more preferred over any other extension. This post tells you a few basic reasons.
There are many domain extensions available today on the internet. GoDaddy even sells you a .me domain extension. However, it has been the .com which has always been popular with webmasters. So what is the best extension which you can give to your domain name? As we know well, it has become increasingly difficult for us to find the domain name of our choice with .COM. This is one reason why so many bloggers now prefer .NET apart from .COM. If a blogger wants the .COM domain name, he usually has to settle for a less than perfect domain name.
Today there is an abundance of domain extensions such as .tv, .biz, .me, but a .Com extension is always much better received than any other online extension that is available on the internet.
It is a very commonly experienced problem by many bloggers that if they have any other extension other than the .com, even if the visitor enters the domain name correctly – he tends to hit the ctrl+enter, which causes your traffic to go to another website. The ease which you offer your visitors with a .Com extension is unmatched.
And no matter what, it is easy to see that while you do a Google search that almost all domain names with .com domain will rank higher than any other extension. Of course, you may a find an .org or .net somewhere in between. So as far as Search Engine optimization is concerned – it is always safest to stick to a .com domain.
Moreover, psychologically it is always observed that people tend to take company websites with .com extensions much more seriously than any other. It just seems to add a lot more professionalism to your domain name. Many online startups tried to test the .biz extension for their company domain – but they found it extremely difficult to create a reputable brand. Eventually, everyone comes back to a .com domain name.
You will be advised in some places that a .net is also a good bet (for eg- www.problogger.net), but, my personal view is that a .com is a necessity if your starting a website or blog.

Yup. .com is universal.
.com will ALWAYS have the most value.
After that .net or .org (but some people still think that .org is a charity business’s website and stuff like that).
What so ever,, Google and other search engine recognizes .com as globally qualified extension. .com is always a better option for bloggers.
