Everyone is switching to premium themes. There is a big buzz about the Thesis theme, which is used by the pro-bloggers to create stunning templates. Famous blogs like CopyBlogger, Mashable etc. all make use of premium themes such as Thesis. It is easy to understand that free themes are good when you are starting off and lack the necessary resources for a premium theme but eventually every blogger should invest in buying a premium theme. It can be almost a big advancement in a blogging career. For those who are still thinking whether or not they should prefer premium themes, here are a few points, which will solve your confusion:
1. Theme Editing
When you are using a free theme, there is a limit to your flexibility in customization. It becomes difficult if you want to have more columns or change the color scheme. Also, you need a good command over coding if you really want to customize your free theme such that it is appealing. If you make a mistake, it can break the whole theme code structure. In premium themes, you can play with codes to a much higher level of flexibility. In fact if you fear you will make error in your code you can always make use of the Theme Support. All premium theme developers give excellent support to their customer’s queries about the theme structure through forums and FAQs. You can utilize them to solve your issue and work on its editing.
2. Unencrypted Footer
This is a point, which you should consider very carefully especially if you are thinking of SEO. When there is a free theme developed, the developer makes use of sponsors in return for encrypting their link in the footer of his theme. There may be good or bad links associated with your themes footer – this is a big drawback to your SEO and can affect your site adversely. But in a premium theme, the code is clean and you can be assured there are no encrypted or hidden links in their framework.
3. Theme Options
With a premium theme, the developer also provides you the luxury of a highly customizable Theme options panel. This panel will reduce your need to play with codes up to 50% or more. It will help save you a lot of time when you want to make some minor customizations here and there since you do not have to access the theme coding. They offer high levels of customization possible right through your dashboard.
What are the reasons why you think premium themes is a necessary option?

Premium themes are better for me and I’m using Thesis theme. Although Thesis has many features and all, I have started to create my own options page whereby I have other features which Thesis is lacking.
The support on premium themes are is much better and faster and you don’t have to worry about backlinks if you have the correct license.
